A Charitable Effort to LIB from Belgium
CEBELVI (Centre de promotion et de development des relations Belgo-Vietnamiennes) is a non-profit and non-governmental organization founded by Vietnamese expatriates living in Belgium. The Belgian-Vietnamese cooperation was officially brought to life in 1998 in Liège, Belgium and is a legal entity supported by the Vietnamese and Belgian governments.
CEBELVI’s founders aim to strengthen the friendship between Vietnam and Belgium which may include engaging in various projects which they can provide their expertise. The association’s primary objectives may be stated as:
- Promote the relationship between Belgium and Vietnam
- Organize events to promote cultural, commercial, tourist, social and scientific understanding between the two countries
- Conduct humanitarian projects that benefit the people of Vietnam
CEBELVI has been a remarkably active contributor in the field of humanitarian service. Among their works is the organization’s involvement with the East Meets West Foundation (EMW) in the fundraising campaign for Vietnamese disabled people “Life is Beautiful”. CEBELVI lent their hand in organizing a fair-booth in the annual Food Fair in Brussels, Belgium and in several promotion activities during the course of the event. The Fair took place in Heysel Fair Center from October 9 to 24, 2010 with the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development as partner and representative of Vietnamese food enterprises. The exhibition was a great opportunity for Vietnamese disabled people institutions to introduce and display their works to the EU market and to be known to European donors and charity organizations.
To name a few charitable works of CEBELVI are: sponsoring for Vietnamese children’s cardiac surgeries, food donation for street people, organizing humanitarian missions with Vietnamese students of the University of Washington, and establishing the Wellness Foundation which aims to provide food and rice to Vietnamese poor people in Vinh Long.
