NEED: School supplies
AMOUNT: US$60
Pham Thi Thanh Thuy was born in 2002 with a mobility disability. She is now living with her parents who are both 46 years old and three bothers and sisters in Group 8 Da Son, Hoa Khanh Nam Ward, Lien Chieu District, Da Nang.
Thuy’s father, Pham Van Ba Thanh, is a motorcycle taxi driver and her mother, Pham Thi Thuong, is a metal scraps picker. The family’s income is 100 USD per month, and it’s very unstable. The meager income is not enough to spend on both daily expenses and tuition fees for the children. That’s why Thuy’s eldest brother, Than, aged 16, had to dropped out of school. Now ha is working and training at a motorbike repair shop. Though Thuy receives 8 USD monthly from the local authority since 2009, the endowment is not enough to save her family from their deprived situation. Unless her parents find better jobs with more stable incomes, Thuy and her siblings are at risk of having to leave school, too.
Now, Thuy can walk much better after her surgery of leg retraction, and her parents want to have another surgery for her disabled finger. It is Thuy’s desire to continue going to school just like her classmates. The little girl will be able to fulfill her dream with a little support from you.
With just a small donation of US$60, you can help Thuy to purchase all her 4th grade set of books, notebooks, pencils and other school supplies.
This cause was recommended by East Meets West Foundation (EMWF) through the Support Network for People with Disabilities Project. Please kindly donate to EMWF so that it can help Phuong and her family and similar causes improve their lives effectively and sustainably.
