Le Ngoc Linh in Yên Hòa, Điện Hồng
Give Linh the opportunity to stand and walk like otherboys of his age
Linh needs $700 to fulfill his dream.
Le Ngoc Linh lives a humble life in Yen Hoa commune in Dien Hong with his parents and his 6-year-old little brother. Though most children are inherently resilient, Linh is exceptional, as he has spent the past seven years, since birth, battling cerebral palsy.
Born with an Agent-Orange related disability, Linh legs are too weak for him to stand on his own. His family can’t afford a wheelchair, leaving him entirely dependent upon them. His father,35 and his mother, 27 are both young and healthy, but poverty prevented them from getting a decent education, and now they can’t get a well-paid job. The family is facing the harsh reality that the $75they earn doing agricultural work is not enough monthly income to provide for their basic needs while also supporting Linh’s school-aged brother. Taking care of their son is a rewarding but difficult task. In their scarce free time, Linh’s parents take him to medical centers where he can practice walking, but it is big challenge for him and requires a long-term commitment.
“When Linh sees other boys his age playing outside, he becomes depressed,” his mother said. “The sadness in his face makes me burst into tears, but I don’t know what else we can do to help him.” His parents’ only hope is to see their precious son standing and walking on his own. For Linh to become mobile he needs equipment and multiple surgeries, which they can’t afford in their current financial situation. Linh wants to go to school like his brother, but without treatment for his disability, it will be nearly impossible.
With $200, Linh’s family can purchase equipment to allow him to practice walking at home, freeing up his parents to work and improve their income. A $500 surgery to prevent his limbs from shriveling would greatly improve Linh’s condition. In total, Linh needs $700 to make it easier for him to walk, permitting him to fulfill his dream of going to school. Yoursupport would give this wonderful child a brighter future.
