In a family of four at Dau commune, Son Dong village, Son Tay lives a 28 year old girl, Nguyen Thi Phuong. Although she is still young, her disability prevents her from working and earning money normal.
Her congenital disability is suspected to be the consequence of Agent Orange, and it foiled her childhood by preventing her from having enough schooling. She only finished elementary school. Phuong now is able to self-serve but is unemployed for she can only do simple tasks due to her lack of knowledge. Her family’s income is mainly from agricultural work. All of her siblings, Nguyen Thi Hien, Nguyen Thi Hai, and Nguyen Xuan Ky are disabled. They do mainly farming work, and earn 80 USD in total monthly. The father has been gone a long time; it was the loss of the pillar of the family that plunged these people into poverty. With that small amount of money, it’s extremely hard to maintain their lives, especially with Phuong’s medical fee.
Phuong’s dearest hope is to assist her family and take good care of her old mother by having an appropriate job for her health. Your small support would help Phuong greatly by enabling her to have job training and to afford a sewing machine to start working at home.
